Anyway, we've been doing a unit on changes and my co-teacher and I have almost just about run out of ideas. (the unit was made by another school and not the best to extend over a 6 week period) So next week, we'll talk about planets and more about space. I'm going to use Sarah's space unit which is adorable!

Space Freebie!!
hi Everyone! Well, I stayed home sick today. This cold was so bad last night, I could not breathe at all. :( Luckily, I feel a lot better today, just very hot and I don't know if that's because our apartment is hot or that fact that it's 85 degrees out! Oh my gosh, I just cannot believe it! haha

And I also created these papers to go along with our research each day on the different planets. We use a website called pebblego.com which is very good at getting little ones to understand topics in words that are on their level. Anyway, enough blabbing, here's the freebie! It's a fill in the blank book. Hope you can use it for your space unit! :)

Dental Freebies!
Hey Friends! It's a very rainy day today so one of those days you want to lay around and do nothing, but I plan on making a shopping list for next week (I love to plan meals!...I'm a nerd) and getting on my workout clothes then heading to the gym. I have to say, I love my future hubby, but on saturdays when he has to work, I look forward to them (shh, don't tell!) Because I get the house to myself and can enjoy the quiet for a while. ;)
So on Monday, we're squeezing in some dental health stuff. I know the month is almost over, but I really really wanted to teach it and it would be useful for the kids since some of them have admitted they don't brush their teeth and some have multiple cavities :( So they need to learn how to take care of their teeth.
I created a True or False sorting activity and dental health certificates I'm going to pass out after the lesson. Click the pics to grab your copies! I hope you have a great Saturday!

Rainforest and Gobble gobble
I don't think I've ever been more excited for a Friday than I am this week. The children have been crazy this week and it's like they are constantly forgetting the rules. Our afternoon bathroom break was terrible today and then I had a kid running down the hall! Um hello guys, we've been in school for 54 days now. (grr)
Anyway, I'm so thankful for this long weekend and to wrap up the week, here's our rainforest toucan hats we made today. They loved them and got a kick out of walking into the cafeteria for lunch and having the other classes looking at them. ;)
And then we finally got our door done for the month of November, we used writing workshop today to finish the I'm Thankful for...writing prompts that are on the turkeys' bellies.
And on a side note, I made my first attempt at pumpkin scones! I'm excited to have one with a cup of tea soon! I'll letcha know how they taste. :) Have a great evening and yay for Friday!!

Rainforest ABC order
So I've mentioned a few times that this coming week, we are focusing on the rainforest habitat. I'm excited for my themed centers and I just uploaded this item in my TN store. It's a rainforest themed ABC order center. :) I'm excited for the kids to complete it and it does double duty with rainforest animal and plant words and working on ordering skills. First 3 to comment get it free! Have a relaxing Sunday! :)

Currently...and a Freebie!
Good Morning everyone! It's a beautiful sunny day in NC and I am just relaxing today even though I should really get off the couch and clean this apartment. I am excited for the new month and Farley's currently...I always anticipate these with the changing of the months. :) Here's mine!
We don't really get to listen to a whole lot of music in class, but every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we have Writer's Workshop so I always put on youtube and we listen to relaxing music.
Next week we're talking about rainforest habitats and for our science center, I'm going to set out these fact cards and have the students choose 2-3 to write sentences on. I've included them as a freebie for you in case you can find a use for them in your classroom too! Hope you like them. :)
I'm off to finish up my centers for next week, do guided reading lessons and yes...I guess clean..blah. Have a wonderful Saturday!

Our Forest Project
So last week, we ended the week of our forest habitat study with assigning the class into groups based on the forest layers. Then, they took turns drawing and coloring the animals that live in those layers and finally we presented to the class. It was a neat idea from one of my co-workers and I love all the cooperative learning. :) Here's our pics! Hope you all had a great weekend! I went hiking and down to charlotte for a little getaway! Now on to lesson plans. :D

Our Germ unit Continued
I meant to post this last week, but we finished up our germ unit with making "cover your sneeze" papers. I found the idea from pinterest and I think they came out really cute! We put them up in the hallway next to the germ writing papers and now our section of the hall looks so cute! Here's our pics!

Germs are Yucky!
So today was picture day and I wasn't thinking that when I planned our glitter/germ experiment, but luckily the kids had their shots taken in the morning and then we did the activitiy right after. I was quick and easy, but once again, those are the lessons that I think teach so much! So first we did the glitter on hands and they loved it! It really connected with knowing the glitter was the "germs" and we found out the best way to get it off was soap and water. :)
Then we brainstormed about germs and I had them choose 2 sentences to put on their germ cutouts (courtesy of The mailbox)
And finally, I had my assistant display them in the hall..I think they came out cute, what do you think?! :)
Also, last thing I wanted to share that is un-educational related. My fiance is on a gluten, soy free diet so last night I went up to the health foods store and got these amazing ice cream bars. I've had them before with his mom and they are actually very good! They're made with coconut milk and completely dairy free! I think they're even better than reg ice cream bars!
That's it for today! Have a great night!

Mad Science Night
Hey friends! I just want to thank all those that left comments and words of encouragement on my post last night. It really made my day and lifted my spirits! I am vowing to not let the other teachers get me down and just focusing on myself and my kids. I hope my principal sees what fun we have, even if we're not doing the exact same activities to go with each topic as the other classes. I'm thinking as long as I can explain the meaning and how it ties to the standards, we'll be good! I'm just shocked that these women don't want to have fun with their classes.
On a lighter note, our school had Mad Science Night on Tuesday and each grade level had a "scientist" come in to the classroom to teach the children some cool experiments. Here's some pics..
And the best part of this week...tomorrow is Friday! Whoo hoo! And we're having a fun apple taste test then graphing our results. :) I can't wait! On to relax for the evening and watch bride shows tonight! ;) I just LOVE Four Weddings! :D

Therapeudic Thursday and what we did today!
Hello! Boy I have such a bad headache so I'm going to try and make this quick so I can relax and zone out in front of the tv. Speaking of relaxing, today's topic is how do you unwind?

I meantioned in Monday's post that my go to drink is wine. I bought some yesterday on the way home..just the cheap stuff, but still good...Pink Moscato. Try it if you've never had. It's a sweet dessert wine, but I like to have it all the time. (not a big red drinker)
I also am a huge fan of Four Weddings and Craft Wars. I love TLC and I don't watch too much tv, but that is my go-to channel. :)
Finally, I have a kindle and the only way to get tired at night is to read a little. Currently I am reading the night circus and it's pretty good!
Also, as side note, I guess I took the post from wednesday too literal and I thought we were sharing what city we taught in...I didn't know it was classroom pics. I posted some a few back, but here's some details I took today..
my messy desk
our book display we'll use to show thematic books
daily objectives will be written for the kids
where they turn in their homework
table management program we've started
sink area
my shelf of PD stuff
my windows...found that adorable garland at walmart for under a buck!
So today, we haven't started our normal schedule which was been freaking my co-teacher and I out. We've been scrambling to fill up the morning for when we would otherwise be doing guided reading/literacy block. So today, I did a science experiment and we had the kids predict what would happen and then watch and see. You use milk and food dye then touch the milk with a dab of detergent and it makes the colors move and dance. They loved it! It was definitely one of those "wow" moments and I was so happy!
