Egg hunt!!

Hi everyone! I am so excited for this post because the math lesson I helped co-teach today went awesome and the kids told us after school they loved it! :) The other title teacher and I thought it would be fun to have an easter egg hunt and graph the colors of eggs with kindergarten. (they are just learning about data) So I went out and got eggs and she got the candy! We hid them around the playground. And each child could find 6.

Then once they found their number, they came to the blacktop and sorted by color..

We then drew a big graph on the parking lot and they put each egg into one space. (we found out we had the same number of eggs for each color, except green...oops!)

 

Finally, we had them "walk" the graph and tell us how many eggs where in each category and which one had the least. :) How fun!

graphing, decor and wedding stuff oh my!

Hi all!

I just wanted to post a few pics of what's been up lately. Yesterday my seconds graders did a graphing activity that they loved. We graphed the marshmallows from Lucky Charms and then talked about which one had the most least, etc. Anything with food, they go nuts over! haha. But we had a lot of fun and I just love anything that's hands-on.

Here's a pic of my door. I know its super simple, but I love it and it looks even better in person! For the rest of the year, my theme is pastel and simplistic. :)

Finally, I got this idea on pinterest. I've been asking my bridesmaids to be in my wedding in this cute and creative way. I bought ring pops and found this little poem and attached it to a clear box I found at Pat Catans. I know the pics are a little fuzzy but it just wasn't photographing well.

Great Lesson!

You ever get one of those lessons that after you're done teaching it, you're thinking "wow! that went so well and the kids were having fun and really learning!" In an ideal world, I wish all of my lessons were like that, but it can't always be. Well luckily, yesterday was one of the lessons! My first graders are learning about graphs and I bought some fruit snacks and we sorted them based on color then I had them individually come up to the board and put an "x" for each one they had. Then we tallied them all up. In order to eat them, they had to answer one of my questions, which included which color has the most, least, how many more does blue have then red, etc. They loved it and I loved them for learning! :)
