Hey Friends!
What a crazy winter it has been here...lately we've hard warm temps, low temps, snow and ice. Today my school was off because of another ice storm. This wasn't as big as the one we had a few weeks ago, but still enough to keep people off the roads. So I decided to make today a day to relax and work on school stuff and see what you all have been up to! :)
Lately we have been very busy in the classroom trying to get all the standards covered before the end of the year (which is fast approaching isn't it!?) Here's some of the highlights...
In math, we've been learning how to measure with non-standard measurement so I hung up pictures for the students to measure with cubes.
This was a milestone! One of my little friends read us The Foot Book all by herself! My heart was so happy to see this :)
We made some great leprechaun traps (we didn't catch him but he did leave us gold candy treats!)
And yesterday for St. Patty's Day, we graphed Lucky Charms marshmallows in math. :)
This week, we are starting to talk about place value in base ten. I made a tens and ones mat to use and I will be using popsicle sticks for the tens and kix cereal for the ones during a whole math lesson on Thursday. I thought I would share with you the mat. :) Click the pic for a copy! I just printed mine on colored cardstock and laminated.
Well I'm off to organize my pinterest boards and get ahead for next week! Enjoy your Tuesday! :)
Seriously, we have lost so much instructional time this year too due to the harsh winter. Other years, we pray for a snow day! Your St. Patty's Day activities look like a blast! What a fun teacher you are! Thanks for sharing the freebie! I will file it away for next year! :)
