Valentine and 101 week!

Hey friends!
I'm stopping by to share some pics of our fun filled, crazy busy week!
We started out on Tuesday with out 101 day of school. I purchased Erica Bohrer's 101 packet on TPT and used a lot of the goodies included!

Then we also reviewed time in anticipation of our time assessment on Thursday. I found 2 great activities on TPT. One was a clock matching partner game, and the other was an activity where the kids had to create a watch with a time on it, then went around the classroom and asked other what time it was, then recorded it on their sheet. (I LOVED this activity and they did too!) I have both links for you below!

Clock Game {FREEBIE}
What Time Is It? {FREEBIE}

Then we finished up the week with a coloring contest for Valentine's day and the kids voted on which one they liked the best.

Yesterday was such a fun day, my husband took me out shopping then we went to Maggiano's restaurant for dinner and cheesecake factory to pick up some dessert! Luckily we didn't eat there as the line was out the door and the wait was insane!!

We might have an early release tomorrow as we are supposed to get some snow. I live in NC so this will be the first all winter, and know how crazy snowy it's been in the northeast and I don't envy them at all!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Just Keep Swimming...

Hey everyone! Half way through the week again, whew! This has been a tough week so far. The kids are terrible to say the least! haha. They just constantly keep talking and don't seem to care what we're learning. My co-teacher and I have warned a few of them multiple times that they may lose their privilege to participate in our party tomorrow and I sure hope they can turn it around before tomorrow afternoon....

So I've been seeing a lot of cute valentines that you all are giving to your class...I went cheap this year and bought kool-aid packets! :)

Instead of writing my name on all of them, I printed up labels and stuck them to the back of the tags! (every teacher needs to have a supply of labels!)

On another note, I feel like I am practically drowning with PEP's and progress monitoring and remediation...ugh! We cannot do anything fun it seems. :( I almost get depressed seeing the wonderful ideas and activities you all are doing in your classes. For example, Feb is dental health month, but we are still finishing up black history stuff ALL MONTH. Granted, it is information that would be good for them to know, but some of the activities are just not fun. :( I wish we could be more themed considering they are only first graders. But oh well, hopefully whatever next year brings me will be better. (sigh) Enough of my schpeal.

Last thing, I have really been into baking lately and I found these cute cupcake boxes at the dollar store, so for my co-teacher and assistants, I made chocolate cupcakes with fresh strawberry icing. The icing is to die for..even my fiance who is not big into icing said he could just eat that! :) Here's a lovely pic!
Ok, I have to go make dinner! I hope everyone's party goes well tomorrow! I'll be taking lots of pics :)

Sweet Vowels Freebie!

Hey friends! Hope you had a good day...this girl is soo excited it is almost Friday! Not sure about you, but I think this week passed very quickly. Yesterday was NOT a good day for my kids. They've been pretty bad since about the beginning of January and I've had it. So we had a "come to Jesus moment" this morning and I told them how I've been feeling lately and we talked about how we can change the atmosphere in the classroom. After that, I personally vowed I would have a better day and guess what...we did! No problems, and most stayed on task and were able to get all their work done. I am very proud of them and I hope this can continue because I just don't know what else to do.. (sigh)

Anyway, on to the good part...last night I made this vowel game that I'm going to fit into the week next week and wanted to share with you.

Just click the pics to snag it FREE!

Well it's a pretty chilly, rainy day. The future Mr. and I are supposed to go to the gym tonight, but I think I'm going to stay home and relax. :) I hope you all have a great night!

February Morning Work

Good morning sweet friends! It is 8:30 on a saturday morning, and I cannot believe I'm up already, but I went to bed last night around 11 and then the future Mr. had work today, so when he got up, I couldn't really go back to sleep. That's ok though, because I like to work when it's so nice and calm in the house and sip my hazelnut coffee. :)

So today, I wanted to do a post on my first attempt at morning work. February is just around the corner and there are soo many cute ideas and worksheets out there. I will probably end up pulling from a bunch of resources throughout the month, but I wanted to make some morning worksheets just to see how I would like them. (and I didn't have anything to do last night while the guys were playing video games..lol) So this packet it up now at my TN store! It's only got 15 pages because I like to alternate paper pencil work with making words since our print copies are so limited (grr). So go check it out! I will also choose 2 random people to score a free copy! Just comment with your email and I'll pick the winners tomorrow morning! Thanks friends! Have a great Saturday! :)

Early release day and a Valentine Freebie

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Boy this week went fast! We had Monday off and then I went to a conference yesterday and then got an early release day today due to icy conditions. It's been a crazy week to say the least. Then as a side note, I turned in an ad at my hometown for our engagement and they managed to mess it up and say we were already married! My future mother in law called wondering why she wasn't invited to the wedding. lol. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper yesterday and I think they are going to run the ad again in the next issue.

Anyway, it was nice to do some relaxing this afternoon. I love snuggling up and in a bit I'm going to start a Jodi Picoult book. Have you heard of her? She's great! Her books are all page turners for me. Here's the one I'm about to start..
 Lone Wolf: A Novel

And finally, I have a Valentine freebie for you. I caught up on all my centers last weekend, and this one is an ABC order station. Here's your copy! Hope you enjoy it. :) Have a great weekend! Hope we don't lose power, but being from the North, this isn't really that bad. ;)

Valentine Write the Room

Hey friends! I hope you are enjoying your Monday off! :) If you're one of those unfortunate that have to work, I at least hope the kiddos are behaving! :) So I've been using all weekend to catch up with centers, printing and laminating. I am so glad to have a control on things and stay organized. I made this write the room I'd like to share with you! I hope you like it! (Clipart courtesy of Thistle Girl design...love her work!)
Have a great Monday!

What we did on Valentine's Day

I wanted to post a few pics from this year. Thanks to The Teacher Wife for her wonderful idea on glow stick valentines. I made them for my kids and they loved them. Such a neat, and cheap idea!
My third graders played a multiplication snowball game that I cannot remember where I got from but the game wasn't my own idea. They absolutely loved it though!
My second graders colored a valentines addition picture they had to solve and then use the code to color.

And my first graders measured with candy hearts. I got this idea from Keen on Kindergarten. They really loved it and got a lot out of this lesson! :) Thanks Meredith!

Finally, last but not least...I was so excited to give this gift to my future hubby! We didn't get each other much this year (but are going on a date tomorrow night) for Valentines day since we're now saving for the wedding, but I found this idea on Pinterest and had to make it. 52 reasons I love you. It was actually really hard to assemble the book with all the cards, but I did it! He read through it and had tears in his eyes! :) Love him!
