July Currently

Yay for July!! There is so much going on this month..my doctor visits for the baby go down to every two weeks, our baby shower is on July 26th and my 28th birthday is July 25th! I love this month! :) 
So I am linking up with Farley to share my currently...here we go!

Listening....my husband is a gamer freak! haha...his latest conquest has been playing Destiny. I don't get it half the time, but to each their own I guess!

Loving...I have a pregnancy app on my phone and check in every Friday when my week turns over and I was so anxious to check it out today as I am officially in the third trimester! It's going waayy too fast! haha

Thinking...So usually my husband works most Saturdays and of course never has Friday off but due to the holiday weekend, I get him all 3 days! It's nice to be able to sit around and relax together. :)

Wanting...next week I am going to Lowes to pick up our color choice for the nursery. I experimented with a couple different samples, but we are going with a Valspar color called Green mist, which is a light minty green color. The nursery will be monkey themed and once I put the base paint on, I am planning on  free drawing a large tree with monkeys! Fingers crossed it comes out ok...I'll post pics when I'm done. ;)

Needing...next to the baby's room is our spare bedroom. Because I am moving schools next year, I have all my teaching supplies in the spare room plus we have some baby stuff so it is literally not accessible to even walk around in there right now! My goal is to take care of it all next week!

All Star...I would say I am a great listener. I love listening to others and offering my advice when needed. :)

May Currently

Good Morning!
It's been quite a while since I participated in Farley's Currently...so here is mine for May!

Listening....my husband has been working long hours these past few weeks with summer on the verge and warmer temps, so on Sunday's I try not to bother him and let him veg out in front of the tv.

Loving.... I am a little over 19 weeks and starting to feel our boy. It's not enough to feel him from outside yet, but I can feel little movements every so often like a little goldfish!

Thinking.... My job is cut this year due to budget cuts and I have an interview lined up on Wednesday for a really great charter school. I hope I get it!!

Wanting.... every day I wake up early, I think it's one day closer to summer. We have 29 days left!

Needing....we are starting DIBELS and EOY testing this week so I need to find lessons for the assistant to do while I test

Summer...Our baby shower will be in July and we are so excited
I hope to go to the beach, even if I will be as big as a whale! lol
I wish would could go on an actually vacay this summer but it won't be happening with getting the nursery ready and baby to come

Currently January!

Hey Friends!
I hope you had a good new years eve! We stayed up very late (around 4am) and played card games. I was shocked I made it that long because on a regular night, I am lucky to even make it to midnight! haha

I am linking up with the first currently of 2015 with Farley! Are you ready?...

 Listening...my husband has his friend over and they are playing Destiny on PS4. (He is addicted, but he doesn't have a lot of hobbies, so I don't mind! haha)

Loving...I have been catching up on Hart of Dixie on netflix and am really excited to have the morning to myself tomorrow and watch it in my snuggie. :)

Thinking....since we have been married (a little over a year) I have gained about 10 pounds. I would like to lose that and maybe 5 more.

Wanting...if you have been following my posts, you know my husband and I have been trying for a little one since July. We are hoping 2015 will be good to us and grant us a little baby!

Needing....we have a lot of credit card debit from the wedding still and I would like to start putting a dent in that.

YES...losing weight..self explanatory. :)
MAYBE....I need to start devoting more time to me and keep work at work
I WISH...I love to bake, especially cupcakes and would like to have my own little cupcake shop. Maybe one day...

Currently November!

Yay! 2 posts in 1 week, I'm on a record! haha. This year has been so busy, that I wish I could post more, but I usually never have the time or energy. :/
Anyway, I always get excited for the Currently's and this month's is up...so here we go!

Listening-wind...I guess it comes with the change in seasons, but it's been very windy these past few days.

Loving- I am big on Christmas and the magic that comes with the holidays. (I take after my mom!) I love that Thanksgiving is just weeks away and am excited to see the stores very slowly (and some quickly!) starting to decorate!

Thinking- we always have so much laundry, and by we (I mean my husband!) I HATE laundry and try to put it off, but I also hate seeing it on our bedroom floor, so I must be done! haha

Wanting- over the summer, I stopped at Michaels and found this beautiful paint by number Italy street scene. My family is Italian and I wanted to paint it and put it up in my dining room. It is just about finished, so I would like to complete it before my parents come down for Thanksgiving. I will post a pic when it's finished! ;)

Needing- life always gets in the way doesn't it....I want to focus on the good I have recieved so far and really take the time to self reflect this month. We only get one life to live! :)

Reading- is it bad I am reading 50 Shades for the second time! haha. I am just about finished with the last book. I cannot wait for the movie in February!!

Currently October

Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday! It is a gorgeous day outside and I'm thinking I might take the dog for a walk this evening. It has been seasonably cool and sunny all day. Love the early fall!

So here is my Currently!

Listening- I usually don't have any background noise on when I'm on the computer (helps me think)

Loving- I worked on parent conferences this morning then did a number on the house. My husband is out of town and will be back tomorrow and I want to just have the time to spend with him before the work week and not worry about a messy house! :)

Thinking- we have a crazy week ahead. Tuesday night, we have a curriculum night for the parents and then I start conferences on Monday. I have them 3 days this week and then 4 days next week and so far, a little more than half of my parents have signed up. I like conferences but also dread them...

Wanting- fall is my favorite season and now that we are living in NC, the trees don't change as fast. I love their beautiful colors and can't wait for them to show their glory!

Needing- my poor kitty ate the last of her food this morning, we feed her twice a day..it's almost time for her dinner, so I better run to the store.

Trick- I have started using a lot of Whole Brain Teaching techniques  in my class this year and I love the smiley/frowney game. For each good thing I see the class doing, ex. staying on task, I give them a smiley point. If I see them not following directions or following our CHAMPS, I put a tally on the frowney side. I set my timer for 20 minutes and when it goes off, if they have more smileys, we do a quick brain break on gonoodle. I love it and it reminds me to get in those breaks throughout the day! There has only been 1 time so far we had to skip the break because we had more frowneys.

Is it the weekend yet??!! and Currently

Hey friends! Whew...we started back last week and it's been a whirlwind so far. First grade as a whole has a very challenging group this year, but I feel like my class needs the most help. I've got some tough cookies this year and we are taking a bit longer getting routines and rules down, but I think we'll get there!
I wanted to share with your real quick my currently...

LISTENING--sometimes it's nice to just be on the computer when I get home and not turn on anything else. It's nice to unwind after a chaotic day! :)

LOVING-the first few weeks of school are a killer, that I really look forward to those weekends..I'm glad we're almost there!

THINKING--As soon as the hubby gets home, I'm making spaghetti...I'm starving

WANTING--I know it's a little personal, but I feel like you are my virtual family, so I like sharing..but if you'd been following, you know we started trying to conceive. No good news yet, but I'm hoping and have my fingers and toes crossed!

NEEDING--last weekend, we went to Nashville and the weekend  before that, school was starting so I am looking forward to not doing anything this weekend except catching up on relaxing and sleep!

3 TRIPS--I've always wanted to go to vegas..I'm not a gambler, (and would prob lose all my money) but I would love to see all the shops and hotels
I have always wanted to visit paris, we talked about going for our honeymoon, but that was a 7 grand trip we just did not have..one day hopefully!
I am big into history and love beautiful southern homes, I would love to plan a trip to new orleans in the future!

Currently August...What?!!

Hey sweet friends! I cannot believe it's August!! Where the heck did the summer go? For me, this summer seemed to go particularly fast. I had a lot going on at the beginning with buying a house and trying to find a new job closer to home. Then at the beginning of July, I did get a new job! And there was a lot that needed to get done so I can be prepped for the district. Now I'm coming up on trainings next week and in 2 weeks, my summer is basically over :(     (ugh!)
 So here is my currently and what else I'm up to...

listening-my husband hurt his elbow at work the other day and was in a lot of pain last night :( I figured I'd wake up early and take the dog out and stay quiet so he can get some extra sleep....poor guy!

loving-I get so excited for the TPT sales and always end up spending way too much! ;)

thinking- the one thing I am on the hunt for is some great first grade literacy centers that are consistent for each month of the year...if you know of any good ones..please let me know!!

wanting- I've been on the organizational kick since I was able to get into my classroom this week. I moved schools so I started this week with just seeing what was in the new classroom. Boy it was a lot of junk and I ended up throwing out 4 full trash bags! But it is coming along and next week I should be able to start moving the desks and really get set up

needing- my friend is coming tonight for dinner and I need to spruce up my house..I've been lacking in that department! ;)

Here is a sneak peak of the wall that will be behind my teacher desk in my room...I am going with a bee theme and it is not quite done yet (still need to put the kids' names and banner) but I'm excited for it!

July Currently

Whew...it's been a while since I've done one of these, but now I have the time :) I'm linking up with Oh' Boy 4th grade for her monthly currently...and it's July already!? Yikes!

listening.....we just got a dog and she is loving her bone! I'm just glad that I can get things done around here while she is content with her "chew toy." :)

loving....as you see from my post below, I got a new job and will be back up in first grade next year. I am very excited, but a little sad to say good bye to kinder.

thinking....I will be heading up to my school to start boxing up my belongings today and turning stuff in. I had a great year and it is a wonderful school, but I am glad to begin this new journey with a school in my neighborhood.

wanting....so we've been in our new house for about a month and have a ginormous deck, but haven't had the money to get a gazebo or patio furniture yet (sigh) I love sitting outside, but for now...it's just beach chairs to enjoy the deck.

we'd love to get something like this!

 

needing....our house is just about ready for company this weekend, I just need to run some laundry, clean the spare bedrooms and make sure we have blankets for the guests. :)

plans....all of my husbands siblings and parents will be joining us this weekend and celebrating the new house. They are spread out all over (OH, SC, TN, NC) and we are just about the middle for everyone. I'm very excited to show everything off, and now that we have a big backyard, I'll be excited for some smores and bonfires. :)
 

can't wait to see all these guys! :)

Yay for March!!

Hey Everyone! I cannot believe it's March already, but I am happy because that means spring is almost here and with it (hopefully) warmer weather! I live in the south, but we have had an awful winter so far! :/

So I haven't done these in a while, but I did get my march Currently completed! Here we go! (and be sure to head over to Farley's blog to link up as well!)

listening-I LOVE country music, but lately, I have been obsessed with FGL. My husband took me to see them back in October. I can't wait till they come out with another cd. :)

loving-this week we had 2 half days for PT conferences and a full day off for PD in Charlotte yesterday. We didn't have to sit through any speeches or anything...it was a day of pure grade level collaboration and I was so excited to see what the other Kinder teachers had in the way of ideas. :)

thinking-as you know, we have been on the look for a house for the past few months, we've bid on a couple, but nothing has come through yet. Just bid on another one today, it needs some work, but I can see the potential. We'll see what happens!

wanting-my spring break is in mid-april this year and depending on if we get a house, I cannot wait to drive home to Ohio and see my mom. We are so close and I haven't seen her since Christmas..missing her like crazy!

needing-my poor hubby has been working his tush off this week and coming home late, he got up early and has been working the whole day today as well. I can't wait to see him and spend some quality time together this evening and tomorrow :)

and finally...can you guess my question based on that answer?? It's a tricky one!

Super Late Currently and some writing pics!

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday! It is a gloomy, rainy day here in NC. I am getting ready to head out to grab last minute things for school next week and baking supplies to get the rest of my Christmas baking done this weekend. I know this is super late, but I wanted to share my currently with you...

As I said, it's raining like crazy today, and I really miss the snow we had back when I was in Ohio. I'm going home for a few days after Christmas, and I hope to see some then, because I feel without snow...it just doesn't feel Christmasey. :/ 
My favorite tradition is decorating our tree and taking out the ornaments I had when I was younger. It's so nice to reminisce childhood. :) Last year we had a real tree, but with our new apartment, we have a fireplace and my husband didn't want to risk the tree catching fire. So we got a small 6ft one last weekend and I decorated it. Now I am happy and content. :)

So this week, I have been noticing how wonderful the kiddos' writing has gotten. We started 30 minutes of writing a day about a month ago and use Deanna Jump's Unit from TPT (which I absolutely love)

Hello Blogging World, oh how I miss you! I never feel like I stay updated with blogs anymore and it depresses me! haha. Life has really gotten in the way this year (in a good way) :) We are currently working on starting a house search. It's very exciting and in NC you can get a lot of house for the money. :)
So before I get into the post, I wanted to share my November Currently. I skipped October due to the wedding and even though it's late, I'm glad to be back on it this month.

 

listening-most of the time lately when I've been on the computer, the apartment has been so quiet and I love that! 

loving-yes, I did some lesson planning this morning and it's good to know reading at least is done for 2 weeks

thinking-my mom thinks we are not coming home for Thanksgiving this year, and we originally weren't but my husband got the time off so now we are going to surprise her! 

wanting-I just finished a really good book called The Edge of Never and now I want to get another one to cozy up with

needing-it's been almost a month since we got married and I still haven't started the name change stuff, but I'm going to work on it tomorrow on my day off

Who doesn't love Panera!! Now you can get the recipe to their broccoli and cheese soup! I'm excited to try this with the cold temps coming. :)

Ok, long post so if you've stayed with me, I'm sharing a freebie for the book One is a Feast for Mouse. I plan on reading the book next week and then having the kids work on sequencing independently to see how much information they can remember. I think it'll be fun.

Currently, and Charleston

hey friends! I feel like it's been forever since I posted! We've moved, unpacked, I went on my conference to Michigan and then went to Charleston this past weekend. Ahh, how busy! And now school is almost here and this girl is NOT ready! 
I loved our impromptu trip to charleston this weekend. It was a birthday gift from my future hubby and when I got off the plane from my conference, my best friend was waiting in the airport and she came along with us! I was beyond excited...I haven't seen her since last Christmas! Here's some pics of our lovely, (but hot and humid) weekend :)

One thing I need to go out and get next week is a shelving unit to store my binders and supplies on. I'm really liking this one...

Also, as many of you can agree...laminators are our best friends..don't know what I would do without mine :)

Currently + Look what I made!

**It always seems when I'm blogging, I'm not listening to anything. haha! Sometimes it seems the music or background noise distracts me. 

**As you know, I am home in Ohio, visiting family. I leave on Tuesday. It went so fast...but I've gotten a ton of wedding stuff accomplished...which leaves me to...

Most of my currentlys have been wedding related in some way. I apologize. haha. We are just about down to the 3 month mark! It has gone soo fast! Being home, I have been able to meet with our florist, check up with the hall and I am now in the midst of trying to find a white dress for our shower September 1st. 

**Once I get home, it's going to be packing crazy. We're moving up to Greensboro from Asheboro to new apartments and I am soo excited! I love the new complex :)

**My tip would be to join linky parties such as this! They are a lot of fun to do and you meet great people :) It's a nice networking thing and way to show a little about yourself! ;)

And now, I wanted to show you pictures of our card box..I worked on this for 3 hours last night, but finally got it done! Yay! Next thing to check off the list ;) How do you like it!?

I started with some paper mache boxes

I had to cut holes in the middle to hold all the cards and I also hot glues the lids to the boxes 

I spray painted the boxes and added lace and ribbon then made holes for the ivory roses and hot glued those
