Throwback Thursday Reading Posters Freebie

Hey Friends! How are you? I am loving the quiet of the house today and getting some school stuff done. :) I haven't heard any news from the school I had an interview for, however there have been a few more openings in schools around my area and a first grade opening at a school in my neighborhood!! So cross your fingers for me will you?! ;) Thanks!

Anyway, I am linking up with Hope at Second Grade Shenanigans and sharing with you a great post (and freebie!) from a while back. I used these mini posters in my reading area this year and loved them. :)

Reading Street Game

Hey friends!
So at my school, we use Scott Foresman Reading Street for our reading curriculum. I have mixed opinions about the kinder version. It seems the upper grades get more resources with their kits, but oh well, I make what use I can with it. :)

In small groups, when I have extra time, I like to play word games with the kids. I created this spring-like word game that focuses on all the sight words from the reading series. Directions are simple and included in the game. Head over to my TPT store to check it out! :)

It has been Cu-razy!

Hey friends! Well I find myself blogging less than usual, but it's just gotten crazy around here lately! I'm trying to get things together for our wedding shower at the end of the month and this week, I'm in training all week for school then next week, we finally get to go into the building to decorate. I feel I have been living and dreaming school! haha, I'll be ready for the first day to finally come, because I don't like all this anticipation and build up!

Anyway, I do have something I wanted to share with you that I just posted in my TPT store. I made a new set of reading strategy cards this year! Here's them all laminated...Click on the pic to go to my store to grab them up!

First 2 to comment get them free! ;) Good Luck!

Do you do Reading Street?

Hey friends! I hope those of you that went back to school this week had a great week...tomorrow is Friday! Whoo hoo! I did kinder screening yesterday and today. It went well...the kiddos were pretty nervous, but most were talkative and very smart! :)
So I was wondering, do any of you do Scott Foresman's Reading Street? We are implementing it this year and it seems like it could be a great program. Everything is basically laid out for you.
I started looking over the components and see that we have amazing words which are similar to vocab and then sight words. I'll add more to the list, because they don't do a whole lot, but it's a good starting block. So I think the program offers the word cards, but I like to cutesify everything up so I made my own. :) Both the sight words and amazing words are available at my TPT store! :) Okie doke, have a great day tomororrow..I'm off to workout!

Freebie and moving...finally!!

Hello! I am in the midst of packing so I thought I would post this early. Here's the state of affairs right now! lol
All this had to be moved from the guest bedroom to the living room..and we're still not done packing yet

That's my little kitty...the poor thing doesn't have a lot of room to run around right now :/

So as you can see this post is going to be short and sweet.
I have a freebie for you..I'm making home/school binders for my kinders and putting a reference homework helper in them. I'm sharing with you in case you can use as well! Just click on the pic :)

The other thing, is I just posted a set of monthly reading logs in my TPT store. There is space on each one for the title of the book and how many minutes were spent reading at home. Stop on over to check them out! Okie dokie, off I go! Will get pics of the new place up once we're all settled in :)

My Latest Education Run

Hello Everyone! Well I relaxed last night and this morning got up early to get my hair trimmed and go an a little adventure to Greensboro. My destination....Apple Teacher store! Here's what I picked up..
We have 2 notebooks the children use. One for writing and the other for math stuff. I thought why not have them cut and paste a daily prompt and we'll talk and write about it. Then I was thinking I could use the word cards for a center. And I can't wait to look through that reading/writing book since those subjects are so important.

I'm not sure if I talked about this yesterday, but my kiddos concern me a bit. I have 15 that I'm responsible for and the class as a whole seems sooo low. Even as I was at the store today, I was looking at first grade stuff and thinking there is no way my kids could do that. This year is going to prove to me a lot of hard work. I hope once we get into the meat of teaching, that I see little light bulbs going off.

Since it's nice and quiet this afternoon, I'm going to work on my guided reading groups. I've got 4 right now. 1 group of 2 kids who are extremely low, 2 groups of low kids and 1 group of high. Our school pulls from a bunch of curriculum programs, but we tend to focus a lot on Jan Richardson's Next Step in Guided reading. I hope your Saturday is going well!

Let The Craziness Begin!

Hey Friends! So today starts the first day of meetings for the rest of the week and also the first day of craziness. I've been on the computer every night, for most of the night blogging for ideas, pinning and creating. I keep apologizing to my poor fiance and telling him once school settles in, I'll be better. (I hope! haha) My only fear right now is we're not going to get the room ready in time for open house so pray for me! There's so much to do and so little time!

As I've been creating like crazy, I have a new item to share with you. I wanted to upload it to my TN store, but the store is being super finicky and when I try to upload images, it freezes my internet..so lucky for you, this will be a free file available via google docs! It's a set of reading posters to hang in your room. The completed project looks like this...
it is kinda long, so you may need to hang it high
Click on the pic to take you to the item.
Also, here is what my poor dining area is now looking like because of school :/
And finally, look at this snazzy little tape dispenser I found at Walmart! I love it!! :)
